See what makes a difference
In an ExAct Forum, participants use the positions and movements of their own bodies to make literally visible how they understand a shared situation and how they want it to be.
These physical structures provide a shared reference for different interpretations and show the steps needed for improvement.
Our life is a journey; sometimes we lose our way. This familiar metaphor shows how naturally we understand complex situations and actions through positions, directions, goals, obstacles and paths forward. Space and movements are among the basic ways we make sense of experience.
Discussion, presentations, sticky notes and other alignment tools may surface ideas, but leave important relationships hidden.
In an ExAct Forum, participants represent a situation in space, making its structure physically visible and open to development.
An ExAct Forum session takes place at a location designated by the client and typically lasts two to four hours. The range of possible participants is broad: a leadership team, a department or a project team, stakeholders working on a social initiative, conference attendees, or any other group whose cooperation depends on alignment.
Participants construct two spatial representations through their positions and movements: one shows the situation as they see it now, and the other as they would like it to be. By shifting from one structure towards the other, they can identify the steps needed for improvement and explore strategic directions.
